About This Project
As big fans of having a karaoke night, myself and a group of friends decided to mix things up to help make things easier for singers when choosing a song. The original idea was to have a number of different cards, featuring songs, themes and challenges, that would be drawn from a hat by each singer. The card based system worked well, and eventually evolved into an online version, which also included player selection, to ensure everybody got an equal chance to sing.
As the game was designed to be playable on a TV, all screens were designed at a 1080p resolution, with scrolling avoided where possible I used an 80's "Outrun" style to add some visual flair, complete with player avatars of 80s icons and custom-made cards to fit the theme.
